The evolution of electric vehicles has shaken automotive industry traditions by offering new opportunities and challenges for business development, partnerships and integration. The automotive industry has been required to shift to a revolutionary way of thinking in order to create unconventional business models and ventures to combat the high manufacturing costs of electric vehicles. Although EVs offer immense opportunities for existing stakeholders, the growth of this industry will introduce new entrants, intermediaries and new means of creating value at different points in the vehicle value chain. To cultivate this rapidly growing industry, flexible partnerships must thrive between diverse and cross-functional industries such as telecommunications, energy providers, manufacturers, suppliers and retailers. Although there will be uncertainty in the marketplace, these new concepts of mobility will change the way we view our vehicles as a mode of personal transport.

Just got back from the Tesla UK Launch event last night. I'll be putting pictures up in our Gallery soon! The event marked the launch of Tesla’s first sales showroom in Europe. The new showroom is located in Knightsbridge – one of the best areas to be in London, right around the corner from Harrods. I had the opportunity to meet some fantastic people, including Elon Musk as well as his wonderful sister and mother who flew in for the special occasion. They also revealed for the Roadster Sport, which according to Elon Musk “is as fast around the track as a Porsche GT3”. In the past, I’ve had the opportunity to drive the Roadster around a track and it is blazingly fast – I can’t imagine how this one could get any faster. I think this is a great start for Tesla and Europe will really launch the Tesla to new heights. In the meantime, I’ll look forward to the video of a Roadster Sport vs. a GT3!

A quick thank you to our delegates and supporters for your overwhelming response to our Electric Vehicle Infrastructure conference “Unlocking the Grid” which just took place this week! There was a great discussion and a wide range of people from all different industries. It was fantastic to see the enthusiasm for the infrastructure challenge. Also, it was interesting to see that there is much more to infrastructure development than meets the eye – but I guess that only means more avenues for truly creative thinking!
